Short Bible Verses

Brief Scripture passages that are easy to remember, easy to share, and easy to return to. Each verse below is under 120 characters — short enough for a lock screen, a sticky note, or a single breath.

Short Bible verses are a quiet entry point into Scripture. A long passage can intimidate; a single sentence — read slowly, sat with for a moment — can carry the whole day. The verses on this page have been chosen for both their brevity and their depth. They are the lines believers have come back to for centuries, distilled into a few words you can hold in mind.

Each verse links to a fuller study, where you can read the same passage in the World English Bible (WEB) and the King James Version (KJV), with a short reflection on what it meant when it was written and how it lands today. Both translations are in the public domain, so you can copy, share, and use them freely.

How to use short Bible verses

  • Memorise one a week. A short verse is easy to commit to memory and carry through the day.
  • Set it as a lock screen. A passage in front of you, every time you check your phone.
  • Write it by hand. The slow act of copying a verse is itself a form of attention.
  • Pray it back. Many of these lines work as prayers when read in the first person.
