The translations

Two translations.
One quiet library.

Every verse on this site is published in two public-domain translations: the World English Bible (WEB) — modern, faithful, easy on first reading — and the King James Version (KJV), the 1611 rendering that shaped four centuries of English-speaking Christianity. You can toggle between them on any verse page, or read both side-by-side.

Both are free to copy, share, and quote — no licence fees, no attribution strings. They're the same translations every Sunday-school teacher and Bible app already trusts, served without the extras you didn't ask for.

How to use this site

Three quiet rhythms for daily Scripture

01

Read one verse a day

Bookmark /verse-of-the-day and visit once each morning. A new passage chosen for Australia's time zone, anchored to midnight Sydney. Same verse for every reader, every day.

02

Study by theme

When something specific is happening — anxiety, grief, gratitude, a wedding, a wait — open the matching topic. Each one collects verses with hand-written commentary on what they meant originally and what they mean today.

03

Read the full Bible

Every chapter of all 66 books is here in both WEB and KJV. Featured verses are highlighted in gold within the chapter view — click through for the full study.

Frequently asked

Questions about Bible Verses

Is Bible Verses really free?
Yes — every page is free to read, with no account, paywall, or subscription. Google AdSense ads (added after a Google review process) cover the hosting bill. We never sell or share visitor data.
Which Bible translations do you use?
The World English Bible (WEB) — a modern, accurate update of the 1901 American Standard Version — and the King James Version (KJV) from 1611. Both are in the public domain, so you can copy, quote, and share any verse without permission.
Why two translations instead of NIV or ESV?
NIV, ESV, NLT, and NASB are copyrighted. Using them requires paid licences, which would force a paywall. WEB and KJV are public-domain, which means the site can stay free forever.
How is the daily verse chosen?
A deterministic rotation through a hand-curated pool of featured verses. The pick changes at midnight Sydney time and is the same for every visitor on the same calendar day in Australia.
Can I share verses on Pinterest, Instagram, or WhatsApp?
Yes — every verse page has a built-in image studio that renders a shareable card in four social formats (Square, Story, Feed, Wide), ten background palettes, plus optional upload of your own photo. One-click download as PNG.
Is this site made in Australia?
Yes. The site is built, hosted on Cloudflare's Sydney edge, and editorially curated from Australia. Spelling, date formats, and the daily verse rotation use Australian conventions and timezone.
